| Comics are a unique American art form that started around the turn of the 19th Century, around the same time that movies and recorded music were getting their start. According to the book “The Ten Cent Plague”, comic books were once the most popular form of entertainment in America. Despite their popularity around the world, comic books once struggled for critical acceptance in America. That has changed, and critics in the most elite journals now laud comics. Here are a few of my favorite Graphic Novels. It is hoped that these books help demonstrate some of the quality and potential of the comics medium. It is also hoped that readers will try a new one from this list. | ||||
